How Does CBD Work?

CBD is continuing to rise in popularity. More and more products are on the market for a wide variety of uses. While many people are using CBD and taking full advantage of its healing benefits, many people still do not know how CBD works.

CBD is one of more than 120 compounds called cannabinoids. The endocannabinoid system (ECS) receives and translates signals from cannabinoids. It also produces cannabinoids called endocannabinoids. The ECS helps to regulate bodily functions such as sleep. Check out our article on the endocannabinoid system to learn more about it!

CBD does not get you high, while THC does. This is because CBD does not affect the same receptors that THC does. CBD does not work to alter a person’s state of mind but influences our bodies to use our endocannabinoids more effectively. CBD actually does very little directly to the ECS itself, instead, it activates other compounds.

This can be seen with anandamide, a compound that helps to regulate pain. Increased levels of anandamide in our blood may reduce the amount of pain we feel. CBD stops the body from absorbing anandamide, allowing our bodies to use it.

CBD works with our bodies to enhance our natural state, allowing our bodies to work naturally without added substances. Instead of altering how our body’s work, CBD enhances it, allowing our bodies to work to their fullest potential, naturally.
